Olo was a soccer player in England, who came late to basketball and
may fit the prototype of the big guy who just never loved the game,
or as Jorge said, he might never have found a place he's comfortable.
On the other hand, I remember that McHale made him a special project
and that never worked out. He also had some alcohol related incident
with the police, but by all accounts he is an articulate charming
person (Vin Baker?).
In 2003-04 he was a very respectable 12 points & 9.1 rebounds with
2.2 blocks, for the Clippers, before taking a free agent offer from
Minnesota.
I remember a game against the Celtics in that last year with the
Clips, where he killed us with, I think, 29 points and double digit
rebounds.
He's 31 now, now longer expected to lead a team and smart enough to
know that he isn't going to be the focus of anyone's offense, but if
he can play with any fire at all, he would be a big upgrade from
Jones, at least for this season and a player like Jones isn't all
that hard to find if you need him later.
I think, with a coach like Clifford Ray on board and Olo's back
against the wall, I'd take a shot.
