We'll never know for sure whether that would be the case, though Veal hasn't been bad so far (then again, he's the prototypical "fill-in-around-the-edges" player even when he's playing well). Powe showed his strengths as an "instigator", but his weaknesses were also exposed. Like Gomes, he's just not big enough to consistently get his shot off down low. I like them both a lot, but they're reserves on a good NBA team.
