I could be wrong, but I think there were some medical reasons why he
stepped away. I think he was too intense, nearing heart attack or stroke
because of the job. Not sure he's mellowed at all with age I suspect,
the job would kill him before he could get thru an entire season.

Aside from that, I really wish he would or could, just don't see it
happening.

Yeah, I don't see an assistant getting promoted unless they just can't
find anyone.  Actually, one possibility would be that their top choice
isn't available until after this season.  THEN, I can see them promoting
an assistant.  Other than that, however, I feel like they'll want to
make a clean break.

You know, I really am ammused by the idea of Tommy as interim coach.  At
the end of the season, they could reassess their position, based on
who's available, but rather than rushing to sign a second-rate coach on
the fly, why not bring in a guys with rings, who loves the team, to
coach the rest of this season?  Do you think he'd do it?  Alternatively,
is there a reason I'm not seeing why this is a BAD idea - particularly,
is it a worse idea than some of the options?
