I have to disagree, people. I think Brown is overrated. His
meandering from team to team is not the result of a desire to see all
that the NBA has to offer, it's the result of knowing just when he's
about to wear out his welcome. To me, he resembles nothing so much
as the "man behind the curtain" in Oz, fooling people into thinking
he's capable of more than he really is. Larry Brown also can't seem
to handle anyone other than himself being the star of the team. I'll
be first to admit I'm not at all sure who should be coaching the
Celtics right now, but I'm reasonably certain that Brown is one who should NOT.
Having made the admission, my personal choice for coaching the team
right now--knowing full well his age and health prohibit even
considering it--is Tommy Heinsohn. This team needs a simple defense
and a running offense, and a coach who will demand the team play
together. Tommy's mindset--normally a little too overbearing for
most modern teams--is perfect for this group.
