I think Perk does not allow to open up the floor for the perimeter shooters.
With Perk spacing was just terrible - half-court looked simply ugly. IMO, if
not Al fouling out right after he killed Chandler in the paint, we had a
real good chance to win. I also think that Powe gives you another scoring
option in the paint, that's why he and Al would be my #2 and #1 options at
the 5 playing small. I thought Powe + Gomes front looked the best in the
pre-season, like a pair of a very tough seasoned vets giving a lot of
energy. Perk looked as apathetic as it gets.
But I'm afraid Powe will find himself in the same boat like Ryan the last
year - until Perk and everybody else will end up on the IL, he will not get
his minutes.
