Isn't that the effect concerning rotations or is my HS physics fading into
memory?
I have to disagree with some that say the rotation wasn't the problem last
night. I'm not going to lay all the blame there, but it was a contributor -
as was the fact Wally, Delonte, Perk, Telfair, and Allen couldn't have
beaten Inter-Lakes High School last night.
The two guys playing well last night - Al and Pierce - why haven't we used
them "inside/outside" - is it too difficult? This team has no concept of the
two man game (pick n roll, give n go, pick and pop, high-low) I mean it's
only the bedrock foundation of the game of basketball. Our offense is swing
around the perimeter, dribble around the blitz, or drive to the hole -
that's IT!
We got demolished on points in the paint - because we were 1) small and 2)
couldn't keep C. Paul from going anywhere he wanted. No denying the ball, no
double teaming him (like they did to Pierce) early to force a pass and when
he got in the paint - no shotblocker. The one time some hard Perk fouls
might've had some effect to let him know it's going to hurt to get to the
rack and we didn't even get that.
Mark B already covered the pick and roll - we don't use it on offense, we
can't defend it on defense - as long is that is the case we won't have a
winning season.
Running game - I'm so glad all we've heard from the spin machine was how
we're gonna run. HA! How many times did C. Paul run off of MADE BASKETS
last night!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! THAT'S how you run.
Nice tribute to the greatest basketball mind ever - and do you think it will
change anything that we got embarrassed on a night in tribute to such an
icon of fundamental play? I don't. I can't wait to read what Celtics Doom
has to say about this one.
