Well, that was disappointing ...

Pierce has had these kinds of problems before. He gets in a bad funk and
looks like he forgets how to shoot. He's always falling forward or back.
And don't think I wasn't grousing when he shot the one technical free
throw instead of Wally.

Anyway, Pierce will get it straightened out, but I'm not so sure he
isn't on his way to being something more along the lines of a 70-75
percent free throw shooter instead of his typical 80 percent. His
percentage dropped last year, and those things start to weasel into your
head a little.

Incidentally, after the game, I wondered whether it was the worst
free-throw shooting night I'd ever seen by two teams, and then I flicked
over to the Cavs game on ESPN. After the game, LeBron was asked by the
sidline reporter about all the missed free throws, and he commented that
it's a different shot now, and it'll take everyone a little time to
adjust. I assume he was referring to the new ball? Every time someone
missed a free-throw, the gang would comment that his follow-through
looked
"off." On one, Pierce's hand slipped out to the right as he followed
through, and he clanged it. My guess is that in real time, the players
don't have time to think about how weird the new ball feels, but at the
line, they start to get uncomfortable with it.
