Incidentally, after the game, I wondered whether it was the worst
free-throw shooting night I'd ever seen by two teams, and then I flicked
over to the Cavs game on ESPN. After the game, LeBron was asked by the
sidline reporter about all the missed free throws, and he commented that
it's a different shot now, and it'll take everyone a little time to
adjust. I assume he was referring to the new ball? Every time someone
missed a free-throw, the gang would comment that his follow-through looked
"off." On one, Pierce's hand slipped out to the right as he followed
through, and he clanged it. My guess is that in real time, the players
don't have time to think about how weird the new ball feels, but at the
line, they start to get uncomfortable with it.
