Draft

Take the best player available, but this still is a big man's game. The
days of the one-dimensional plodding big man appear to be dwindling, but
guys like Duncan, Nowitzki, Brand, Rasheed Wallace, etc. are having a
huge impact. And don't tell me the Suns wouldn't be better with Amare
Stoudemire.

You play a PG and a big at all times. That leaves three spots, and even
if you go small at all three we have Pierce, Wally, Allen, Green,
Delonte (at times) ... it's a logjam already. And how many swingmen have
a huge impact? As good as Pierce was last year, look where the team
finished.

Personally, I'm tired of stockpiling talented swingmen, getting excited
because they look like good players, then wondering why we can't win
with them -- all while being outrebounded and completely unable to
defend at the rim. I'll be very disappointed if we don't come away with
a good big guy.

That doesn't mean Adam Morrison or Brandon Roy won't be good players. We
could take one of them and trade Wally or Gerald or Tony along with
others for a big guy. But those trades are harder than you think. Teams
don't trade big for small. For the most part, teams get their talented
big guys from the draft.

I think the playoffs are showing you don't necessarily need big men to
win. Games are won by perimer shoting, quickness, and trapping defense.

Forget the likes of Aldridge, O'Bryant, and go for proven perimeter
players like Brandon Roy, Morrison, Reddick Quincy Douby.

I really like what I have seen from Leandro Barbosa.
