Makes sense. Take the player who can help right away, over the
potential, down the road, home run, in Sene.
In any event, we are looking at points and bigs; through draft, FA,
or trade.
Let's hope we do better than last season in those categories.
A point guard who can defend, run the fast break and feed the post. A
big who can defend and rebound. We don't need all-stars, but we need
solid rotation guys.
On the other hand, why not give away another season to development,
trade our pick for two higher ones and take Sene and get a the Spanish
point guard: Sergio Rodriguez (The Spanish Magician).

{Rodriguez has the passing ability of a Steve Nash, Jason Kidd or Jason
Williams. He can add flash to the most fundamental play and make it
look sick. He knows where to get the ball and does so with succession.
He usually makes the right pass and gets it in a comfortable spot for
his teammate. His assist number may look low at first glance, but
European basketball count assists the old way and the right way.
There's no dribble or basketball move made and his numbers look small
because of it. If he were playing college ball right now, he would be
the leader in assists.
Even though Rodriguez is a pure point guard, he is amazing to watch
because of the way he handles the ball. Nicknamed the “Spanish
Magician,” Rodriguez uses a variety of dribbles to get by his man. His
favorite and the hardest to predict is his behind-the-back dribble. He
has very long arms, yet it's the lack of shoulder movement that makes
it so intriguing. He has the relentlessness of Juan Carlos Navarro, a
great Spanish point guard. If Navarro had Rodriguez's point guard
abilities, he would be starting for an NBA team right now.}
As long as we're going for a dance team, why not build the basketball
team for show? Rodriguez, Green, Perkins, "Big Al" and Sene. Win or
lose, I'd watch that team night in and night out.
In fact, we could even stop keeping score. I'm sure Stern could work
out a deal with the networks, you know like those talent/reality shows,
where the audience at home calls: 1-800 and votes who stays on the
island/ moves on to the finals?
The real beauty of the plan is that they would no longer have to worry
if the zebras get the right message on enforcing the league's rules du
jour. As long as they contract Diebold to tabulate the votes, they
never have to worry about any "wrong" teams, advancing.
