< I interrupt my reading of this discussion to state my firm belief
that Al is better than O'Neal right now. > - Gene

< Gene, if you want to argue Al will be better someday, fine. But
come on. Al was a colossal disappointment this season, and part
of that is because of his lack of desire. Al is going to have to work
very, very hard to ever reach Jermaine O'Neal's level. > - Berry

BRAVO BERRY!

< Do any of you remember the games when Al overwhelmed JO
last year, or again early this year? > - Gene

No, but it would have been nice to have seen. 0 Jeff and O'Neal played
against each other in only one of our four games against Indiana this
season (Dec. 14). Jeff had an "overwhelming" 8 points, 6 rebounds.
O'Neal had an off night with only a double-double, 14 points and
10 rebounds.

In O'Neal's only other game against us (April 12), Jeff didn't play,
and O'Neal had 21 points and 15 rebounds. So maybe you're
onto something, Gene, that Jeff may indeed be our best
kept secret as a defensive weapon.

But more likely, before an affliction is digested, consolation
comes too soon. But after it is digested, it comes too late.
