With all due respect to the estimable Kim Malo, there
are certainly ways an Al-for-J. O'Neal trade can work.
I've posted one in the past:

Al
Raef
Scabs or Dickau
Green (to sweeten the pill)

According to RealGM, that goes down just fine. Now, I
realize you'd be trading two "cornerstones of the
future." But you'd get a 27-year-old All-Star who
could team quite nicely with Pierce, Wally and the
rest of the kids. If you don't want to lose Green,
substitute the #7 pick instead. Indy really needs to
rebuild, IMO - absent Artest, they're in the
one-star-franchise category.
