Look at the team around him at this point, and the style they play. Who
else do opponents have to fear? Stephen Jackson?
The Pacers are a team that through age, injury and circumstance (Artest)
has become a plodding, offensively challenged team with one legitimate
NBA star -- O'Neal. He's not a guy who is going to get you 25 a night,
but Josh think about what you said in your last post ... He gets you 20,
10 and a couple blocks ... and that's it. Do you know how many guys in
the league do that? While also playing great interior defense? That's
incredibly rare.
Jermaine desperately needs a change of scenery, but I'm not so sure he
gets his wish. Bird is no dummy. He knows how hard guys like that are to
find. I'm sure he understands that the problem isn't O'Neal, but the
players around him. If they can make some good moves with Jackson and
maybe someone like Foster, work Saras and Granger into the rotation a
little more and add the right mid-level guy, I could see the Pacers
bouncing back.

I just don't see what the big deal is to Jermaine O'Neal. How
can anybody compare him to Kevin Garnett? He's just a complementary
player with some gaudy stats. Indiana's offense doesn't even revolve
around him, unless he's being guarded by Travis Knight. Am I really
that far off? This playoff series sure didn't change my mind.
