Bummed ... but ...

So, Rudy Gay was the slider. Unlike a lot of people on
this list, I like Gay - he's smooth, athletic - I see
him turning into another Ray Allen, and I think he
could have helped right away. Still, had Boston taken
him it would have necessitated another move, since
there aren't enough minutes for him, Wally, Tony,
Green and Gomes in spot duty.

So that leaves point guard. I was really hoping the Cs
would take Marcus Williams, and was fearing they would
take Foye. I guess I have to trust the NBA pros who've
worked these guys out in person that neither rookie
would have been better than Telfair. I've always liked
Theo Ratliff and think he'll bring toughness and
defense Raef lacked. (His deal only expires one year
sooner than Raef's, though, if I'm reading Bender's
site right - in 2008.)

Now we have to wait for the Iverson shoe to drop. I
truly hope Boston doesn't part with both Jefferson and
Green to make this happen. I'm still having a hard
time figuring out how Pierce and Iverson share the
ball. (And I like Iverson.) Much as I'd like to make
the playoffs next year, I'd much rather be playing for
a championship, and I don't see the Pierce/IA tandem
making that happen.

ROTATION:

SF - Pierce, Allen
PF - Al?, Gomes, Scabs
C - Perk, Ratliff, D. Jones
SG - Iverson, West, Green?
PG - Telfair, West
