Chicago trade revisited

On a straight one-team-to-one-team Pierce trade, Chicago
seems to be a possible fit. The problem is that Chicago
wants to trade Gordon, not Hinrich, not Deng, not Nocioni.
But if they really want Pierce and we are serious about trading
Pierce, they will likely have to part with at least Deng plus their
#2 and #16 draft picks for Pierce and our #7.
If such a trade were to be executed, it would look good on paper
to all those Celt fans who genuinely feel we would be better off
without Pierce.
But such a trade would not be without its attendant problems.
For who would then be our team leader/franchise player ...
the bow from which our championship arrows would be
sent forth? Among our current young players, Delonte has
the most character/smarts to be that guy. But does he have
the commensurate talent, especially if he is eventually
relegated to backup PG/SG duty?
If Winston Churchill had lived long enough to be a Celt fan,
he might have stated -
"I cannot forecast to you the action of trading Pierce. It is a riddle,
wrapped in a mystery, inside an enigma; but perhaps there is a key.
That key is how many more years can we afford to keep getting
younger and younger by replacing key players and their pricey
salaries with additional draft picks and no-help contracts such
as Mills ($6.6 mill), Stewart ($4.5 and $4.8 over two seasons),
Fox, Borchard, Olowokandi, etc.?"
Maybe we wouldn't remain in this "forever young" holding pattern
if Wyc/Pag would consider that the engine which drives enterprise
is PROFIT, not THRIFT.
THE TRADE -
We lose:
Pierce
Foye or Simmons at #7 (two current Danny draft favorites)
We gain:
Deng
Morrison at #2 (assuming Toronto takes Aldridge or Bargnani)
Saer Sene at #16
or
We gain:
Deng
Aldridge at #2 (assuming Toronto takes Morrison)
Rondo at #16
