On Vescey, Rando, Sergio, etc.

Steve,

I completely agree. Pierce, barring a
career-threatening injury, has at least 10 years left
on his career, and should be capable (depending on the
state of the team) of scoring 20+ and getting 6-8
rebounds during most of that time. The thing with
Pierce is that his game is predicated on fundamentals,
footwork, length, and intelligence--aspects which will
only remain the same or increase in greatness as he
ages. Even if he loses some athleticism as he ages
(or has a knee injury), he can easily be moved to
power forward, where his rebounding prowess and
low-post offensive game can be further exploited.

Thus, unlike other players who play Paul's position
and are similarly valuable, such as Vince or McGrady,
Paul's game is such that he will age most gracefully.
Any trade proposals should address this unique aspect
of Paul's game--namely that since his game is not
predicated on athleticism (like the majority of
players in the league), he will have a longer and more
productive career than a great majority of players.
Thus, he is a player who you build a team with, even
at the age of 28.
