those Mavs

The game I saw on my birthday last December has given me much to remember. Those Mavs played a full game, replete with wise substitutions and clutch performances by bigs and smalls alike. I have not been much of a fan other than being a hundred miles away and aware of their development; after all, Captain Don Nelson was their pilot; who can't like such a great ex-Celtic? Now, I think they will win it all. Here's why:
They have excellent balance and present some real matchup problems, plus a steady defensive attitude that keeps them hanging around. Nowitski will be too much for Haslem or Walker or Posey; Harris will be able to drive on anyone the Heat throw at him; Terry and the guy from Wake Forest can get hot and score 20. Then, there's Stackhouse! On defense, they have enough bigs to keep Shaq at bay, plus Diop is a very improved player--very. They will need to manage their spirits and keep their composure, but they've got the balance and firepower to do it. I don't think Miami can hang with them. It could go in five games, but more likely six or seven.
So, I remember fondly that the Celts stormed back in the fourth quarter, with Big Al having perhaps his best game of the year (19 and 11, I think) and nearly stole it. Those will be the Celts that take the court against the World Champion Mavs next year. Cheers, Gene
