Celticsblog is passing along that the C's have chosen the vets being sent to
the summer league --
there's some heartening news therin IMO....

Orien Greene -- This to me suggests he's in our plans next season... even if
it's in the D-League. I'm in
the camp that sees no harm in sticking him and Dwayne Jones in the D-League
and going w/ 13 guys in
the NBA. Centers and PGs don't grow on trees and these guys both look like
capable (if not spectacular)
guys for an NBA team.

Dwayne Jones -- see above. He's a legit 6-11 and has shown an ability to
rebound. Can he do it
consistently in the Bigs? who knows but what's the harm in taking another
year to see.

Al Jefferson -- i thought you were ineligible after your first 2 years, but i
guess i also remember
somethign about if you missed a significant portion of the previous season to
injury you can play.

Gerald Green & Ryan Gomes -- no surprises there, but i'm guessing we see Gomes
at the 3 for long
stretches.

More and more i think we may go into next season pretty much with the same
team as the end of last
season:

West / Greene / Dickau
Szczerbiak / Allen
Pierce / Green
Jefferson / Gomes / Scalabrine
Perkins / LaFrentz / Jones

That's 13 guys. #1 pick makes 14 and for #15 my guess would be we either add
a vet PG (like Jacque
Vaughn, Darrick Martin, David Wesley) or possibly even resign Olowokandi for
the minimum (anything
above that I'm against... but for the min? sure, why not?)

(the other) mark
