Baby, we were born to run

I'm old. It's official. My first reaction should've been
Cooooooooool...instead it was the stodgy "in a real game that pass gets
swiped, bobbled, missed, etc and when we lose by one is the difference in
the game".

I'm too damned critical, cynical, and all the other cals relating to
negativity these days. I mean Bird threw some crazy, unfundamental passes in
his day so what the Hell is my problem?

If I take some time and analyze this without criticism, the only way to get
this team to truly commit to running is exactly these types of plays. You
appeal to the "new" NBA - respect, street cred, props, bragging rights are
all right there for the players in these ultra-cool plays. You get the
(another stodgy term) consumer (that would be the players) buy-in - suddenly
everyone wants to be the recipient of such passes so they too can finish
with flair. It is what posters (read: endorsement deals) are made of.

I want this team to be Phoenix East (albeit I'm worried sick about
rebounding) and in retrospect I guess the fastest way to make it happen
isn't Ainge or Doc or Wyc saying it will be, but the freedom of the players
to make these type of plays without fear.

There's video you've got to see at nba.com of Telfair passing to
Green backwards between his legs on the break for a dunk. So sick and
so much fun.
