catching up on everything

That's why I said he has to break some bad habits. I agree that he has
it in him to be a good drive-and-kick point guard, but we haven't really
seen that for a while.
The Doc problem is very real, though. I get the sense that Danny is
trying to put together a team in the mold of the Suns, with small, quick
guards and four perimeter players on the court at most times -- with
Pierce effectively playing the role of Shawn Marion. I think this can
work, but we've never seen Doc do it -- even when it seems like the
talent on the team is screaming for it. He has gone small occasionally,
but most of the time he runs two bigs out there -- even when one of them
is Scalabrine. Tell me ... If you had to choose between playing four
smalls or playing Scalabrine, wouldn't you just go small?
The other problem with this, of course, is rebounding. Phoenix gets away
with it because Marion is a monster rebounder for his size. Pierce is a
good rebounder, but not in Marion's class. Play him with Wally, Delonte
and Telfair, along with Perk/Al/Gomes, and you have a team that is going
to struggle on the glass.
That's why I think Marion is such an interesting guy out there on the
trade market. He's available, and a perfect fit for the team Danny is
putting together. He makes much more sense, in my opinion, than Iverson.
The other problem, of course, is Telfair isn't Steve Nash. Plus, you
have to commit to that style of play 100 percent. I just don't see Doc
doing it. I'd give my left arm for Mike D'Antoni coaching the Celts.

Telfair is no ball-pounder. He was forced into playing that
way much as Kenny Anderson was during his tenure under
Obie, but his first instinct is always to penetrate before
the D is set. I only hope Doc (or Coc, as Celtics Doom
calls him) has the sense to take off the leash.

Absolutely?
