I've been hearing this a lot (Telfair being a 3rd string point guard on a
lousy team). Somehow, this does not seem quite accurate. Here are last
years' stats for Portland's point guards (minutes/assists/points):
Blake: 26/4.5/8.2
Jack: 20/2.8/6.7
Telfair: 24/3.6/9.5
I don't know what Telfair will bring to our team, but I'm hoping for the
best. He's only played in this league for two years, after coming in
straight from high school. From what I understand, he was also injured for
part of last year. I'm going to reserve my judgment regarding his
basketball talents until after I have seen him play for the Celtics for a
few months. I think it's reasonable to assume, however, that Telfair will
continue to improve as a basketball player, given the normal NBA learning
curve. Can't we look forward to that? As for the questions regarding his
character, these too will be answered in time.
