Ainge as Coach

Excuse me, but who doesn't want a GM that can put a team together? Who doesn't want a coach that can follow through on a GM's plan?

Look at the roster we had when Ainge took over and look at the roster now. Red Auerbach said in describing our team a few year's back, 'You can't make chicken salad from chickenshit." To his credit, Ainge blew up the team and added piece by piece until we had enough decent -- not all-star, but decent-- players and cap flexibility (i.e. expiring contracts) so that we can be a player in the trade market.

I don't view Iverson as a "save the franchise player" as Eggy has already derisively characterized him. But I agree with the poster who said that if we get to keep Wally, Jefferson and Green (and our #1 pick I would add), we'd be in great shape. The fact that we can realistically have this type of a conversation abouit acquiring an All Star is a testament to Danny's solid steps.

seems clear and crisp. I agree with most of it, perhaps all. (Which
doesn't mean I think it's going to happen, alas. Lucky Lucky.)
One can recognize that people are wrong for positions without
knowing just who their replacements should be. (And, for all
I know, Egg knows.)

As a fan who wants to enjoy this team, and the talk about it, it can
be difficult to read Egg's relentless negativity. But, you know: it's
also difficult to watch a team be so relentlessly bad for so long.
