Practice makes...?

Exactly, Bob. Doc talks about rewarding players who
play well in practice...that's well and fine if you're
coaching the 7th grade C team, but here in the pros I
think he should be playing the players who give the
team the best chance to win. Winning, after all, is
the best reward there is. The NBA game is a game of
matchups and sometimes the player that's playing well
in practice doesn't provide the best matchup in the
game.

And I guarantee that Scal, even when he's hitting his
shots (what's it been, like 5 games over the last 1
and half years that that's happened?), will never
contribute any more than Powe can given the same
amount of minutes. And since we're losing, what's the
use in playing somebody who makes only a fraction of a
difference to the outcome of the game over a guy who
could provide that same fraction and possibly develop
into something more?

Of course, put that question to Doc, and he'll insult
your intelligence and ensure everyone that he knows
best and that he sees things that you can't see and
blah blah blah. Is anyone tired of being insulted by
Doc? I know I am. I guarantee there are ten people
on this list, or more, who know more about basketball
than Doc does, and who could make better coaching
decisions. But Doc talks about a disconnect between
fans and players, about how we can't see the
subtleties of the game like he can. Doc is just
covering his ass 'cause he knows the end is coming.
Let it be near.
