Actually that's not remotely true. Wally very frequently makes the 
pass that leads to the assist, or just initiates that rarest of 
things (well, second rarest after defense) on this team - ball 
movement in general. That was what stood out the most from the moment 
he arrived. Suddenly we had some ball movement, since unlike Pierce, 
Ricky Davis, West, et al, he really never pounds the ball into the 
floor as the clock winds down trying to figure out what to do. He's 
immediately shooting or he's passing. And those things don't hit the 
stats. His passes are also more apt to be catchable - Pierce gets 
waaaay too many turnovers from passes that are way off or don't 
consider who they're going to and what the right pass is for the 
situation. While Wally is also much less likely to insist on doing it 
all himself except when he's on a real roll.

Try rebounding as a comparison between them, where it's a much more 
legit criticism for Wally and credit to Pierce, especially since 
Wally certainly has the muscles and basketball IQ to do more and do 
it effectively.
