Re: Is it recycled, for a moment

>I think it can be a good concept album, fresh and new...

Tom:

I'd like to think so, but it's like dancing through a minefield.

>Why do you think it's all irrelevant? Do you think ONLY the die-hards will
buy it, no matter what, or will it be a BIG DEAL no matter what?

Mike:

Perhaps I should be more specific: I don't think it will matter to the larger Rock world what the new Who album is. A big deal? Probably not. Let's let our imagination run wild here. If it's a Who album, you know the sort of Who music we like, then it will be as relevant to the majority of music fans as an Aerosmith album at best (and even then, maybe not even that). If it's "new music," then we probably aren't going to like it. The last hope I had for that was the Lifehouse boxed set, and his mix version of Who Are You. Sounded like Orgy, although I heard the Townshend version first, and I could see that as a good mix with the old and the new for a possible new Who album. That included (in my mind) the power of Entwistle, of course. Now...what's it going to sound like? I just can't see it. Music has moved on (sort of).

So that's what I mean by it's irrelevant. I don't think it matters what they do, good bad or ugly. You and I and most if not all of the people reading this will buy it. Almost everyone else in the world will probably not.

>Because they suck!

Kevin:

They don't suck. Unless your definiton of "sucking" is not being as good as Keith and John, and that would include everyone, so that means we ALL suck. In one case you may be right, as my wife often refers to Ann Coulter as the Succubus. I tend to agree with her.

>I hope you're not implying I listened to Bon Bone-head.

Oh, no, I was just clearing my throat. Perish the thought.

>You forget that Tania was a surf lifeguard in OC Maryland, and on The

Actually, I never knew it in the first place.

>Once you go OBX, ya can't go back.

But you can revisit fond memories. A romantic moonlit walk on the beach while my daughter babysits for Ethan. Or perhaps a quick wave ride while giving the finger to the life guard, I don't know. Besides, OC and actually all the East Coast beach resorts N of Miami are Mayberry RFD versions of MB. We have a Hard Rock, a HOB, and they're building a Hard Rock theme park (don't know if it'll be done by next summer). I've mentioned the shopping, the new mall opening in the spring will be the second largest mall in the country. The most golf courses in the world. So much shit I couldn't even begin to list it here.

OC, Virginia Beach...fah! Been there, wasn't impressed.

Besides...the BABA Center! It's like being in the mountains with no mountains. Beautiful, restful, spiritual...what more could one ask for?

>I say they do, and The Who was right in the middle of that group.

Whaddya mean, "the middle?" Zep is a Who wannabe band. Stones were a white Blues band. The Beatles were a Pop band with mostly SOS "girl, I want to be your man" songs to their credit. Did they ever write a song about masturbation? No, they were singing "Beep beep `n beep beep YEAH!" at the time. "Good day sunshine..." Not "A strange surprise what I despise in other guys is here in me..." or "I wonder if this will go on my life through every day is spent in an echoed vision of you..." OK? Dylan probably heard that and said (Dylan voice) "Ooooh, that's gooood. Yes it IS!" or "You want to write that well, but you know you never will, don't you...Mr. Lennon..."

And what about them Red Chins, huh? Huh?
