Re: Remembering Keith Moon

Man, those NPR interview audio links were kick-ass. Daltrey says he's
still working on getting the Moon movie made. But he feels most bio pics
are boring & he doesn't want his Moon movie to turn out that way.

He hinted that he had some Moon stories that he was saving for the film.
He also said Moon opened up to him towards the end of his life & re-
vealed some personal things about his family life that Daltrey will for-
ever hold private. Interesting.

Daltrey still disputes Tony Fletcher's (Moon biographer) claim that Moon
never drove a car into a swimming pool. "I saw it," Daltrey exclaimed!

Fletcher was asked what he wanted people to remember about Keith Moon &
he said that he hoped Moon would get more recognition for his revolution-
izing of the drums & not just for his Moon the Loon personality. Sadly,
he said that most people he speaks to today just want him to relate crazy
Keith stories. That seems to be all they're interested in.

Both Roger & Tony engage in a healthy dose of Kenney Jones bashing. Tony,
I believe, making an uncharacteristic hyperbole by saying that Who fans
hated Kenney in the band. Odd when you consider album sales for FACE
DANCES & IT'S HARD, & also ticket sales for the '79 & '82 tours.

Fletcher was also very critical of Pete's 180 degree turnaround when Moon
died. Up until Moon's death Pete had wanted to slow the band down & poss-
ibly stop touring altogether. Then, after Keith died, Pete decides to re-
place him with a new drummer, make more albums, & engage in broad-sweeping,
lengthy tours of the U.S., bilking Americans (Fletcher's words) out of more
money than he had when Moon was alive.

Interesting & informative interviews. A nice tribute to Moon.
