Extreme Daltrey
Repost from Relayers:

GUESS 'WHO' IS COMING TO DAWSON
The History Channel is coming to Dawson County and the Georgia Racing Hall
of Fame at Thunder Road USA next month.
Filming for a segment of "Extreme History with Roger Daltrey" (yes, Roger Daltrey
of The Who) is scheduled for the second week in September, said Tom French,
operations manager for the museum.
Originally the segment was going to be called "Moonshine to Madison Avenue."
Howver, the segment will only rediscover the history of moonshine and racing
throughout the 1970's, French said.
"Right now, based on schedules, they'll be here hopefully between the 9th and
13th of September," French said. "They'll shoot 30- minute segments, one-third
will be shot here in Dawsonville, one-third in Toccoa and the other third will
probably be done at Atlanta Motor Speedway.
The outside entrance of Hemphill's Garage at the museum is slated to be used
as a back drop for filming legendary ridge runin scenes and setting up a tripper
car, French said.
Also, a moonshine still (water, not the real stuff) will be set up and made oper-
ational along Shoal Creek, Fench said.
It's all part of The History Channel's aggressive addition to it's prime time lineup:
Extreme History with Roger Daltrey, the legendary lead singer for The Who.
The show is designed to give viewers a glimpse into the gritty hands on business
of surviving history's most challenging scenarios - each episode engages in a
different historial event and new environment to explore man's battle to stay alive.
Daltrey will come to Dawsonville and learn the art of liquor tripping, making
moonshine and stock car racing in the 1940's and 1970's, French said. He'll
be assisted in Dawsonville by a group that includes former Dawsonville NASCAR
racer David Sosebee and Wayne Bearden. "Daltrey will do most of the dirty
work including setting up the tripper car, moonshining, tripping and racing," French
said.
"We're going to get a 1940 Ford Coupe and convert it to a tripper car." Daltrey
is going to drive it to the still empty to get a feel for the vehicle, " French said.
"Later, we're going to fill it up with jugs of water (instead of the 'shine) and Roger
will drive it down S. Hwy 9 to Rock Creek Complex."
