The Day: You knew Jim Morrison. Back in your wild
days, could you drink him under the table?
Cooper: Absolutely not. There was much greatness and
tragedy in Morrison. He was the real deal, but you
could not stop this guy from trying to kill himself.
That he lived till 27 was a miracle. One thing that I
did learn from guys like Hendrix and Janis and Keith
Moon and Belushi: they all died trying to be their
characters. Leave the character on stage and have a
real life.
