Well, I see it a bit differently.  Only 19% currently have rushed to condemn, while 81% are, at worst, reserving judgement until they know more about it.  Not only that, but the majority of those are willing to believe Pete entirely.  Those figures are encouraging in my estimation, especially in an era where people want to believe the worst about famous people.
