Another reason (or two) to piss on ian anderson + Pete's Greatest performance

A long time ago I read a thing with ian where they did one of those blind
music tests (Downbeat Magazine had or has a similar regular feature). They
play a bunch of songs and don't tell the listener who's being played. They
did a Pete song. I'm 99% sure it was "And I Moved", but it could have been "A
Little Is Enough". anderson dissed it. When he was told it was Pete he said
that Pete should work with better musicians, which is really a moronic
comment because it's a beautifully played song. The other reason to crap on
ian is that I seem to remember an interview with him where he revealed some
ugly right-wing politics.

Speaking of "And I Moved", are people aware that Pete did it before "Who Are
You" at the Daltrey Sings Townshend shows at Carnegie? I have it on my Vid.
of the Pay-Per-View, but it's not on the DVD. Did anyone else out there
attend both shows? I did and I have annoying news to posit. Pete did both
songs both nights. Both the Pay-Per-View and the DVD contain Pete's spoken
intro to "Who Are You" from one of the nights tacked onto the "Who Are You"
performance from the other night (easy to tell cause Pete's hair was combed a
bit different from night to night). Here's the bad news: Pete's other
performance of "Who Are You" (the one not on either video - perhaps do to
sound or camera realities) was the single greatest thing I've EVER seen or
heard Pete do on record or on stage. It was bitter, scary and breathtakingly
riveting. I'll attempt to liken it to something. You know the intensity Pete
sings the fast parts ("they don't give a shit Keith Moon is dead") of "Jools
And Jim" with? Imagine that intensity increased by half and sustained for the
entire song. It was SO great that I'd even bury the hatchet with Whitefang if
he could procure and display it.
