Re: Milos Forman's film version of HAIR

Forman's HAIR is one of the greatest films ever, see it on DVD. In the summer
of 1979 there was a big group of people who hung out in Central Park, and all
summer we'd collectively go to see HAIR and The Kids Are Alright, the
greatest film ever. I saw Kids on June. 10, 1979 for the first time at a
theater on E. 58th St. (the Plaza, I think - it no long exists). That date
was the dividing line of my life. Kids premiered at this theater with a
special showing the night before, attended by Ox & Kenny Jones. After I saw
it, I was very pissed I hadn't gone the night before. It played at this
theater for about 3 months. I was heartsick when it closed, but it moved the
next day to Cinema 2 on 3rd Ave. for another long run. That theater is the
first place I'd heard Who's Next - they played it between showings. I'd only
been able to get Meaty, Leeds, and By Numbers till then (I was 13).

Anyway, anyone who loves Kids should at least like HAIR very much. Treat
Williams, John Savage, and Forman himself all should have got Oscars for it.
Both films forcefully demonstrated that there were much better possibilities
for living one's life, and they both inspired exploration in ways that change
you forever.
