WHO LEGEND LEFT IN LIMBO OVER CHILD-PORN COMPUTER PROBE


ROCK legend Pete Townshend faces a lengthening wait before finding out 
whether he will be charged with child porn offences.

The 57-year-old guitarist, who was arrested in January, was meant to return 
to answer bail at a London police station two weeks ago, but was told not to

turn up. Officers now say they will contact his lawyers when they want to 
talk to him again.

Police took away computers when they raided his home in Richmond, south-west

London, but sources say they have found no evidence of child porn - although

they did discover 19,000 pages of his song lyrics.

The Who star has admitted downloading porn from a pay-to-view US website, 
but insists he logged on as part of research for a book he is writing about 
the subject.

Yesterday a spokesman for Townshend said: "We cannot make any comment until 
the police investigation is concluded."
