Then I agree with Pete again. Jesus had nothing to do with organized
religion. He opposed it and it opposed Him. It is exactly the same today. Don't be
fooled by the numbers nor by the guys with weird accents, hair and clothes on
TV. God is not like that at all. He is after the few that seek Him, the
Fountain of living waters.
To clarify what I remarked about intelligence not being of value to see
spiritual things, it is not by the "absence of the mind" that one receives
revelation, but by the use of the "spirit" first. The human spirit is the organ
within us that is deeper than our mind and can receive the Spirit of God as the
"air." The mind explains what is received by the spirit. The "will" chooses to
start this process-or not. The emotion expresses the feelings that result.
When the spirit takes the lead, the rest of our being is put into proper order.
This is not a joke. I do it often and it has made me a very happy person
regardless of any circumstance. This is the test for me whether something is
genuine or not. Does it work? The Spirit in my spirit always works. When you
eat, you just live. But you have to know where to put the food. You can't eat
with your ear. John 4:24 makes this clear. This is repeatedly and emphatically
spoken of in the bible, yet nearly no one knows this critical fact. Every man
has a spirit and that is the secret within us all to see the spiritual scenery.
I feel like Pete may have touched this concept but may have never gotten a
handle on it. There are spiritual principles just like in any process, but he
has been bombarded with many different forces. I feel as though he is still
seeking the practical application of his vision. Watchman Nee saw in the bible
how to do this and Witness Lee made it crystal clear to me. I know how to
practically carry this out and what the reason for doing so is. I am at rest. I am
full of excitement and hope. When I am down, I don't worry anymore. I can
leave my AK on the shelf.
We want to do what we want to do, but that doesn't necessarily mean that we
are free if we do so. It actually means that we are not free. I read up on
some things that Meher Baba said and he knew some of the principles. It was
pretty good. The losing of the self is the right concept. But from what I saw, it
is merely a concept with no power to actually carry it out and that has been
Pete's struggle. He saw all these visions and high teachings and then ended
up turning into an alcoholic and a heroin addict. He was living the life of
excess and knowing about "nothing is everything." So he is casting a rope to
whoever might catch it, maybe?
He did see something very large though, I have little doubt about that. This
is also my favorite Who song. Even the melody is sweet/powerful.
Great review, Mark.
