Re: Gorge review

>>I also listened to the Gorge one last night. I was
disappointed at the slightly muffled sound when it
first came on and they were still feeling their way
through some of the music on the first CD<<

>>I was at the show and had the same opinion. First
part of the show was about average for the Who. <<

When I put the Gorge in earlier this week I was
actually thinking that disc 1 was quite good because
Pete's guitar sounded so chunky and fat. Almost SG.
His guitar playing was certainly "on" the whole show.

>>Pete went crazy on MG and did some of the best
soloing I have ever heard him play.<<

Yes, that was really a standout version of MG. Not
the best though, IMHO. That would be either Hershey
(for Roger's great improvised lyrics not heard
anywhere else) or House of Blues version, which is
killer and has an AMAZING segue into RedWine Jam>WGFA.

I have seven Encores. One of these days I'm going to
review them by comparing each segment of the show
(opening, WN set, Quad set, late songs, end set [TKAA
MG WGFA], and Tommy encore. Even after getting MSG1
this week, House of Blues and Hershey are still at the
top of the list, followed by Greek Theater. More on
this later.
