On not meeting Pete or being backstage

>Sorry, I did not make that connection. (d'oh!)

Mike:

Then it can't be THAT inflamatory, can it?

>Perhaps a more interesting one, at that.

Not really. See, I live in Myrtle Beach...home of the first Baba Center, and the place where Pete wrote at least some of Lifehouse ("The crabs are swimming down among the starfish..."). He's been here many times, and sometimes I've gotten the "heads up." Well, I think it would be great to discuss music with him...but my instinct is (as you note) I doubt he'd be that keen. I'd be just another fan, oh can't he have a few moments without the hoopla? So I am happy to grant him his space. If he happens to walk into my store, called Generations Used CDs for the obvious reason, he'd probably freak because I have a bit of Who stuff on the walls and it's just possible I'll be playing some Who music (I sold someone on the Scoop collection today by playing Zelda for him). But should it happen, I'll try not to get all bug-eyed and just say something like "Thanks for the music." I have some slight experience in being low key, having worked as a roadie for Emerson Lake & Palmer on the Brain Salad Surgery tour oh many moons (not Keith) ago. And I could see how they didn't want to bothered.

At the Raleigh 1997 show a friend was working for the promoter, and tried his damnest to get me to come backstage, but I declined...it's just not that exciting for me to see them walk by. Besides, as far as I've been able to gather, the Raleigh show had the BEST encore of the tour. Miss that? I think not! The same friend offered as well in 1989, and I once again declined for the same reasons. No big deal, really.

Speaking of Myrtle Beach, we ARE planning another Whofest here next summer, and that includes a fascinating tour of the Baba Center. Details to follow at some point.
