Letter to IWF - repost from O&S

Below is a re-post from O&S
Bravo Benn!

I'd encourage all (I am) to write to the IWF.
Again, to the point, professional, and ask them to shout out their mistake.
They contributed directly to the whole media and police frenzy.

This could have a *BIG* impact.

Subject: IWF E-mail

I have just mailed this to the IWF to see if they are
more willing to accept responsibility for their part
in misleading the police and media........

Mail to: admin@iwf.org.uk

Sir,

I assume from the press release that you will be
releasing an unequivocal public apology to Mr.
Townshend for not relaying information to the police
and the media that would have gone some way towards
showing the "above-board" nature of his research?
Regardless of the Data Protection Issue, surely it is
more appropriate to help the case of someone if you
have the information to do so?

Your Mr. Mark Stevens was extremely quick to go public
with his condemnation of Mr. Townshend and I would
hope that he is equally as quick to condemn the way he
sought to further his own cause and the cause of the
IWF. Did he presume to think that by *outing* a
public figure such as Mr. Townshend, he would receive
greater support from the general public?

I would have hoped that a man in such a position of
responsibility as being the face of an organisation
that is seeking to do some good on the issue of
Internet misuse, would have had the presence of mind
to realise that communications to him from Mr.
Townshend on e-mail would be traceable and therefore
giving creedence to Mr. Townshend's defense. There is
now a school of thought that is leading me to think
about who is keeping tabs on the people that are
supposed to be doing the tab keeping.

Sincerely,

Benn Kempster
