I'll accept that. Pete's guitar on my Mansfield Encore disc is much more
raucous than BTTB. But, it's got that bad vocal mix and the popping sound.
I guess if I had one of the shows without those problems, I might
reconsider, but the real problem is that John's not there.

I know a lot of people have been saying how the performances from the 2000
tour were much better than BTTB. I have only really heard the songs Pete
put on his website (there's 15 or so still up on eelpie.com, if anyone
hasn't heard them yet). They're great, of course, but I thought the sound
quality was not that good. I also thought Roger's voice was in better form
on BTTB. That's why I was so afraid the 2002 tour would be a letdown. I
had heard the stuff from Pete's website and then the CFNYC and I thought
Roger was done. I can't tell you how pleased I was to hear him sound great
on my Encore CDs (and pissed off at myself for not going to the show).

So, my criteria for the best post Moon live recording would be, in no
particular order:

John has to be in the lineup (can we all agree on that?)
Roger has to be in decent form (his 1999 on performances have been anywhere
from an A- to a D, in my opinion. I know it's not his fault. But it's
there, just as sure as Keith and John are gone.)
The sound quality needs to be good (at least on par with BTTB, better than
Pete's 2000 freebies.)
Pete needs to be playing electric (I'm SURE we can all agree on that) other
than that he's always A to A+ for me
Sloppy performances are not that troubling to me (hey, it's rock and roll,
right?)

There might be some 2000 boots with all those things, plus stronger guitar
from Pete. I'm going to keep my eyes (ears?) open for the bootlegs Ken
recommended (thanks again), but I've never heard a boot that truly sounded
good. Other than that, the only way I see something better coming out is if
the band releases an official album from that tour. Any chance of that
happening?

Yeah, I was torn between wanting to have that extra material and wanting
them to be absolutely pure, with just the original four guys and no synths,
or any of that shit. Right now, I'm in a Live at Leeds kinda mood.
