Re: The Who Mailing List Digest V10 #58

Responding to a couple of things Jim M. said:

"I've come away with a couple of opinions: One, Blues to the Bush must be the

best live stuff they did after Keith's death and will never be surpassed,
now that John's gone."

I kinda thought that Blues to the Bush came out while Pete was still figuring
out how to get his old guitar sound without wrecking his ears again. I feel
the guitar is very thin. When I saw them about nine months later, they had
fixed that. By 2002, the guitar sound was perfect! I would love to get a boot
of the 2000 show that I went to, which was Cleveland, 9/30/00, because it was
the best show I ever saw (since I never saw Keith). It's too bad I have no
connections as far as bootlegs go, because I understand that a local radio
station broadcast the show that night, so there is probably a good one out
there if you know how to get it. If I could stand their DJ's I probably would
have known about it and taped it too.

"If I could go back in time,
I'd be hard pressed to think of one thing I'd rather do than go see The Who
live in 1970."

That would have been excellent, especially because the James Gang was opening
for them quite a bit that year, but I would go back to 1971 so I could hear
primordial versions of Baba and WGFA!

P.S. Has anyone heard any updates about the rumored "last rehearsals" DVD
with John?

P.P.S. Do you think Pete showing up in Atlanta (I am assuming that is what
ATL stands for) is a good sign, because if things were about to hit the fan
he wouldn't be allowed to leave the country?
