Although the Apples in Stereo have built their
reputation on their sweet brand of lo-fi psychedelic
pop, their October 2002 release, Velocity of Sound,
proved their pop-punk capabilities with the albums
dirty chords, trashy drums and overall raw production,
adding a taste of Sonic Youth to their previously
Spector-esque sound. Released by New Yorks spinART
Records, the album includes new songs not only from
the acclaimed Robert Schneider but also from drummer
Hilarie Sidney and bassist Eric Allen...

...Who are your influences?

You really caught me off guard [laughs, pauses]. When
I was a kid, it was Pete Townsend and the Who.

What do you think of this whole Pete Townsend scandal?

[Laughs]. I didnt think about that before I mentioned
him! I dont think hes a pedophile. Didnt they say
he only signed into the Web site once? I think if he
were a pedophile, there would be more of a history the
media wouldve dug up by now...
