Re: Who Album of the Week -- "Face Dances" !

FD was my ninth Who album; I'd been hoping to finally
find WBN at the store but FD was the only one they had
available that I didn't own yet. It was a cold late
February day and I was just starting to get over a
very bad cold (probably lasted so long because I
dragged myself to all of my classes in spite of the
cold), and earlier that morning, about 5 AM on a
Saturday morning, the idiots on the fourth floor of my
building (where I'd lived for two weeks in October)
had done something to set a little fire, so we're all
rushed out of bed and forced to stand around in the
cold waiting for the fire department to come by as
smoke comes out of the fourth floor windows. Even
despite their yelling-at, those idiots on the top of
our building did it in the middle of the night twice
more several months later, two nights in a row, which
nearly made me pass out from a pyrophobia-induced
panic attack. (I've had bad pyrophobia since before I
can remember; it's no joke to have to be awakened in
the middle of the night by a deafening fire alarm and
thinking there's a real fire. I had two more panic
attacks brought on by a fire alarm later that year in
a different building before I got it under control; I
could barely breathe during the last attack.) That's
the day I got FD; now, the songs:

The best song in my opinion is a close draw between
"The Quiet One" and "Another Tricky Day." "The Quiet
One" is really loud and exciting, one of JAE's best.
"ATD" is a classic early Eighties anthem, with very
poignant insightful lyrics.

Worst song for me is "Cache Cache." One of the worst
songs Pete ever wrote. I actually rather like "How
Can You Do It Alone?"; I like the lyrics, and I really
like the bagpipes in it. (At least they sound like
bagpipes.) A lot of people hate "Did You Steal My
Money?," but I think the lyrics are kinda cute, even
though the backing vocals are kinda annoying. I also
like the lines in the middle-eight.
