No, the CD on the ride should be sufficient.  There a number of changes to the arrangements and a few to the lyrics, but the play stays pretty faithful.  After all, Pete did work directly on the british and broadway versions so it naturally wouldn't get too off the track.  They do one thing strange, making the older Tommy the narrator as the young Tommy goes through his trevails.  You'll like it if they have a good director and some good singers.
