Re: Don't be shy

Good one, Jo. OK, I'll have a go:

Name and City, State: Alan -- Austin, TX
Nickname: none

Year and city graduated high school: 1973, Austin

Highest level of education completed: 4 years college -- twice :-)

Occupation: Network admin

Year became a Who fan: Hard to say, it's been a series of ascending levels.
1970: first introduced to Tommy. Loved it. Bought a copy and nearly wore out the grooves
1973: first Who show, Dallas, Nov. 25. Took me to another level. Stunned.
1980: first post-Keith show, Houston. Very worried about their show, given that I hadn't been impressed with their album output for the last 5 years. Could The Who still rock? Was blown away. This show showed me I could trust them forever.

First Who show attended and how many: As above, 1973. Total Who shows: 83. Not counting Pete, John, or Roger solo or permutation shows

What were you doing when you found out about Keith's death? Attending college. Don't really remember how/when I heard, but I wore a black armband the next day, then burned it and buried the ashes under a tree in my front yard. I had only seen three Who shows at that time, but I knew something important to me had gone and it was important to mark it even though no one in that little cattle town had the faintest idea what I was on about.

John's? Window-shopping at The Venetian casino/hotel in Vegas, about 3 hours away from seeing him at his art show.

Favorite Who Song? Won't Get Fooled Again
Favorite Album?: Quadrophenia

Least Favorite Who Song: Squeeze Box

Pete, Keith, Roger, John fan? I'll go with Jo's answer: "Honestly, I love them all in their own unique way."

Who is the best kisser? Not the faintest idea :-)
ass kisser? I think they all pretty much built their career on not kissing ass. Odd question.

Most raw talent?: Possibly Keith, simply because as far as I can tell he spent very little time actually practicing his instrument, in contrast to the others. But I'm not sure it matters.

Reason for joining the list? Joined this list's ancestor when it was at cisco.com and IIRC was the only Internet-based fan meeting place for The Who
reason for staying? Jo: "I stay because I like the crowd." Me too. wouldn't stay if I didn't like the group.

Biggest complaint on the list: Lack of Who news. Get them working on that, wouldja?:-)

Who you'd like to see voted off next: Well we don't vote, so not much point in answering this one.

Married, divorced or married with a little action on the side?: Third alternative: Single

Interesting Hobbies: The Who IS my interesting hobby. Besides that... applied philosophy, amateur bridge player, reading in history, forensics, politics, etc.. Love animals of all sorts. Should take up racquetball again.

CNN, Fox, Nickelodeon or History Channel? Fox
VH1 or MTV: VH-1

Favorite Who venue? I favor the ones where I can get an actual seat down close. The little clubs like Shepherd's Bush Empire or House of Blues yield excellent shows, but the GA aspect combined with jerks in the crowd offsets that advantage considerably.

Cheers,
