Who Sell Out (not) with '03 Greatest Hits Tour?

Unless Pete and Roger write some new songs that are good enough to release,
the band
is over. I doubt concert goers (listers excluded) would pay big bucks again to
see another greatest
hits show next summer. The one thing The Who could do without new songs is to
to make a spectacular stage show out of Lifehouse and take it on the road.
That would really be cool. No way is the band going to tour once a
year. Every other year is the most Pete can handle. Don't look now but I
think I hear acoustic Pete. So long Zak Starkey. So long Who band. Hello
Pete's solo band.

While I understand Pete not wanting to go to John's memorial service, it
creates a bit of sticky wicket for him from a PR standpoint. My guess is
that almost the entire Who family will be there including band members,
roadies, management, etc. Pete will be conspicuous by his absence and
probably roasted in the English press. He doesn't care After all, in 2000,
he agreed to tour so John could avoid debtor's prison As most of us know,
Mr. Townshend has been known to change his mind once or twice.
