You blinded me with Science

> The problem comes when we cease to be open.

Jon:

DEFINITELY! I'm with you 100% on that.

> Theory is theory. This is an assumption by the human mind of things unknown.

And...I have to say it...faith is an assumption by a human mind with absolutely no evidence at all. At least scientific theory is based on evidence. And I've got to say, in a universe that makes ANY kind of sense Stephen Hawking is a lot closer than the truth than Jerry Falwell will EVER be.

> Science deals with physical objects.

Depends on the science. Tell that to a psychologist.

> thoughtfully, this thought will eventually come to mind. We were all made
this way. We all have this capacity. We all have this longing however deep
it may be buried.

I could say that's a survival instinct, to keep us from killing each other and to get us to procreate.

> What is love? There is no scientific handle for this. We all want it.

See above.

> I don't think so. He's giving us his views but I don't think he's
trying to "open us up."

Scott:

Ah, I think you might be wrong there. Pete is opening the door a crack, because he knows humans can't resist trying to find out what's behind the door. Using our instincts to further his goal.

> Look what happened when Tommy started laying
down the dogma. The faithful revolted. It all collapsed. What was
Pete saying there?

That humans are for the most part too impatient and selfish to sit still long enough to get the message. Also that being right is the easiest way to get yourself in trouble. I can relate to THAT myself, yes indeed.
