It's a dream he had, from HORSE'S NECK.  The business about a sewer pipe
>suggests a phallic symbol.

Just to be clear, he had the dream, then mentioned it in Horse's Neck.

I always also relate that line to the 3-second clip of snakes slowly 
slithering around a skeleton inside the Iron Maiden in the Acid Queen 
number of the Tommy movie, but maybe that's just me.
