Kevin, you're not.
I have been listening to Quadrophenia over and over lately, loudly (as
usual). Pete has touched something very personal there. I got the usual
cleansing chill when I heard the three piano notes over and over at the
beginning of Love Rein O'er Me followed by Keith's cymbal wash then boom -
"Only Love... " This to me is Pete's deepest, highest writing and music on
record. That song is the peak. This song is a song of care. It is the
search that ends with finding God.
In this life some of us are smart. Some of us are dense. Some of us belong,
some of us feel we don't. The fact of the matter is, it does not matter. We
all need Love. We were created with this basic need and It is there for the
finding.
I appreciate Pete's sensitivity much more than his powerchords and I *love*
them. He is an honest barometer of what goes on inside of most of us. I
appreciate that he has let us see into his heart so much. That comes at
quite a cost to him, I bet.
He has a dark side and so do all of us. He is brutally honest at times and
seems uncaring an cold. But he is very real.
When I hear his music I hear someone that knows that things should be far
better than they are, and will not let go of his seeking. We all need the
rain. It rains on everyone of us wether we are sharp or dull. I am glad
that God is not a respecter of persons.
Jimmy, did they accept you? Did you fit in? Are you good enough? Does
anyone really care about you? Did you find anything that fits inside of you
yet? Are you through with all of your trying? Now that I finally have your
attention, here is the Real thing. Me.
