Re: Complete TKAA on VH1Classic

Re: The *edited* TKAA movie.

Here's a snippet from an Entwistle interview from the Sept. '81 issue
of Trouser Press magazine:

*****

TROUSER PRESS: Townshend & Entwistle have openly expressed
displeasure with the Kids (movie) venture. Entwistle & Who man-
ager Bill Curbishly even trimmed the movie's one true find, "A Quick
One" from the Rolling Stones' Rock 'n' Roll Circus T.V.show, from the
European print. How come?

ENTWISTLE: What happened was, we finished dubbing the film. In
between my going home & the the film actually being cut together prop-
erly, an extra ten minutes of dialogue was added in such a way that I
couldn't cut it out without half of the "Quick One" segment; it fit togeth-
er that way. So I had to cut "A Quick One" short. The English distrib-
utor wanted the fim cut down to 100 minutes; they were cutting out
parts I wanted left in & leaving in parts I wanted cut out, so I went into
the cutting room & cut about 10 minutes. It made for a faster-paced
film. Also, I felt after Keith's death that (director Jeff) Stein was cash-
ing in by sticking lots more Keith in than he had done before. I didn't
think that was right; it completely unbalanced the film. There was also
far too much dialogue & not enough music, so I tried to cut out enough
dialogue to balance the music.
