GRAHAM MEETINGS WILL HAVE FESTIVAL SEATING
Cincinnati banned practice after '79 Who tragedy

Cincinnati: Festival seating has been all but banned in Cincinnati since
11 people were crushed to death when fans of the Who pushed their
way into a rock concert 23 years ago.

Organizers of the Billy Graham Mission expect more orderly conduct
from people coming to hear the evangelist, whose appearance is ex-
pected to bring 250,000 people into Paul Brown Stadium for five ses-
sions June 27-30.

Festival, or general admission, seating means most patrons don't have
assigned seats as they do at baseball & football games. At the Who
concert, fans were pushing to get the best standing room locations
closest to the stage.

"My feeling is the Billy Graham Mission will show how festival seating
can be done right," said Paul Wertheimer, who headed a task force to
find out what went wrong at the 1979 concert at Riverfront Coliseum.
