The Who will play a charity concert for Maryville
Academy Sept. 23 at Chicago's 1,300-capacity House of
Blues, reprising a similar performance held at the
same venue in November 1999. As with that show, Pearl
Jam frontman Eddie Vedder will open, backed by the
Washington-based duo C-Average. Tickets for the event
are $400 and go on sale Friday (July 26) via all
Ticketmaster locations and the House of Blues box
office.

Who guitarist Pete Townshend has been a longtime
supporter of Maryville Academy, which aids
disadvantaged youth in and around Illinois. As
previously reported, the Who is pressing on with its
summer North American tour despite the death last
month of bassist John Entwistle. The trek will wrap
Sept. 28 in Toronto. As for Pearl Jam, the group's
new, as-yet-untitled Epic album is tentatively due
Nov. 19.
