the pumpkins? please......

I had a girlfriend for several years that was,
unfortunately, a huge Smashing Pumpkins fan, and I saw
them three times. One of these shows was in a pretty
small club and is apparently regarded among Pumpkins
fans as one of the all-time best.
I could barely stand them. Billy Corgan's hearing must
be totally shot - his guitar tone is 100% high end
screech, like an old transistor radio. His self
obsessed songs about lazy angst aren't even funny. At
least the original rythym section could hold it down
pretty hard, but to what end? Like Styx and Boston and
their ilk, they will be regarded as an embarassment,
or at the very best, amusing schmaltz, in the very
near future. My friend who runs a record store in town
said about a year ago that he can't sell the used
stock of Pumpkins that he has, and he can't even give
away the "live imports".
Please don't ever again mention them in the breath as
"The Who", ever!
